Kyle Miller

Mr. Kyle Miller of Lubbock was appointed as the Student Regent to the Board of Regents of the Texas Tech University System on May 29, 2009. Mr. Miller is a member of the Academic, Clinical and Student Affairs Committee. His term expires on May 31, 2010.

Kyle Miller of Lubbock is a second year medical student at the Texas Tech Health Science Center where he is enrolled in a dual degree MD/MBA program. He has been recognized as a Rawls Scholar in the Texas Tech University Rawls College of Business where he is concurrently attaining his Master of Business Administration in Health Organization Management. A native of Plainview, Texas, he earned his Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry with Magna Cum Laude Honors from Texas Tech University in 2007.

He previously served as a Chancellor’s Ambassador while enrolled at Texas Tech University. He was elected as a member of the Mortar Board his senior year at TTU. He was inducted into the inaugural class of Phi Beta Kappa at TTU in 2007. In 2009, he was inducted into the Upsilon Phi Delta Health Organization Management Honors Society at the TTU Rawls College of Business.

Mr. Miller is involved with the Double T Health Corps Organization at the Texas Tech University Health Science Center. He serves as a mentor to elementary school students at Willow Bend Elementary. He is also a student member of the Texas Medical Association. Mr. Miller was selected this past fall to serve as a Deans Ambassador at TTUHSC to aid in the recruitment of medical students. He has served as a class representative for the TTU Health Organization Management Student Association during 2008.

Mr. Miller has worked as a TTU P.A.S.S. Center Supplemental Instruction leader while an undergraduate student leading discussions for test preparation in Organic Chemistry, Physics and Anatomy. He also served as a Supplemental Instruction leader Supervisor as a graduate assistant. During the summer of 2008, he interned with Covenant Health Systems and conducted research involving patient outcomes following the implementation of a joint replacement center. During the summer of 2009, he interned with Marshall Steele, a healthcare consulting firm in Chicago, Illinois, where he evaluated joint replacement surgery center implementations, wrote a series of white papers on topics pertinent to joint replacement surgery, and helped develop an electronic platform for patient surveys.

Mr. Miller has received the Covenant Health and Social Services Fellowship, TTUHSC Rural Health Scholarship, TTUHSC Academic Achievement Scholarship, and the Mary Nell Sowell Presidential Endowed Scholarship.
