Russell Thomasson

Chief of Staff and Counsel to the Chancellor

Russell Thomasson is the Chief of Staff and Special Counsel to the Chancellor. Thomasson serves as the Chancellor’s primary liaison to the vice chancellors and senior administrators of the component institutions as well as other constituencies throughout the state and region.

He also advises the Chancellor on various legal matters and provides general oversight with regard to legal affairs.

Tim Hudson, Ph.D.

Vice Chancellor

Tim Hudson, Ph.D., was named vice chancellor for the Texas Tech Univeristy System with a primary focus on distance education and academic affairs in August 2011.

In his role, Hudson coordinates and supports the distance education and online programs, as well as academic affairs, at each of the Texas Tech University System institutions.

Linda Steele

Executive Assistant to the Chancellor

Linda Steele serves as the executive assistant to the Chancellor in the Office of the Chancellor, joining the Texas Tech University System in December 2006.

In her role, Linda provides executive and total support to the Chancellor, which ranges in responsibility and is crucial to the office’s day-to-day functions.

Casey Harmon

Special Assistant to the Chancellor for
System Relations & Strategic Initiatives

Casey Harmon is the Special Assistant for System Relations and Strategic Initiatives for the Texas Tech University System Office of the Chancellor. In her position, Casey plans special events for the Office of the Chancellor and the Board of Regents.

She also facilitates campus visits and briefings for elected officials and is instrumental in the creation of the Texas Tech University System Strategic Plan, Leading the Way.Learn more. »

Megan Myatt

Recruitment and System Relations

Megan Myatt, System Recruitment and Relations for the Texas Tech University System Office of the Chancellor, joined the department in August 2010.

In her role, Megan is responsible for prospective student recruitment for the Office of the Chancellor. She manages the Chancellor’s Top Scholar program, a strategic recruitment initiative that actively recruits students who have been admitted to the university with a score above 1500 on their SAT. She also works very closely with the Chancellor to recruit many special populations of prospective students.

Lee Mazurek

Assistant to the Chancellor

Lee Mazurek serves as the assistant to the Chancellor. As Chancellor Hance’s personal aide, he has to anticipate any and all of the Chancellor’s needs.

Prior to his current position, Lee worked as the system relations coordinator for the Office of the Chancellor at the Texas Tech University System. In 2008, Lee served as a congressional intern for the United States House of Representatives in Washington, D.C.

Anna Vayda

Senior Administrative Assistant

Anna Vayda is the first person you will meet when you enter the Chancellor’s Suite.  She is the Senior Administrative Assistant to the Chancellor in the Office of the Chancellor, joining the Texas Tech University System in July 2010. 

Along with managing the Chancellor’s telephone calls, Anna is the assistant to Russell Thomasson, Chancellor’s Chief of Staff and Dr. Tim Hudson, Vice Chancellor for the Texas Tech University System.
