The Kent Hance Regents Endowed Chair in Entrepreneurship was established in Texas Tech Rawls College of Business Administration in Feb. 2005.
“Kent’s gift gives the Rawls College of Business Administration the opportunity to build one of the top entrepreneurship programs in the country,” said Allen McInnes, dean of the college. “We will use this chair to attract a nationally known, top-quality professor who will make an impact on the education we offer our students.”
The endowed chair was one of several established under the Regents Faculty Endowment Program. Gifts of $500,000 are matched with existing university funds to create named chairs. The program was part of the university’s goal of recruiting and retaining quality faculty members.
“I love Texas Tech. I would not have achieved the things I have achieved without Texas Tech,” said Hance. “This is a way to pay back to the university for what it has done for me. I think Texas Tech has an excellent faculty and I do not believe that you can receive a better education anywhere in the United States. This endowed chair is designed not only to honor faculty, but to do research in the area of entrepreneurship. Hopefully this will help more young business men and women to develop new business because of their experiences at Texas Tech.”
