IS primarily provides application design, development, and maintenance for web and mainframe based systems. IS typically provides this service for applications that will be shared between TTU and TTUHSC, with TTU only applications being developed by the TTU Technology Support Application Department and HSC only applications being developed by the TTUHSC Information Services Department.
IS also provides consulting services for departments, including consultation for automation needs, pre-purchase evaluation of software systems, and interface designs to IS supported systems.
TTU and TTUHSC departments may request services from the IS department using the PRISM system. The PRISM system provides a web form where customers may enter detailed information about a request for services https://webapps.tosm.ttu.edu/Prism/ProjectRequest.aspx. These requests are automatically forwarded to IS management for review and subsequent processing. If additional information is needed on the request an IS Project Leader will contact the requester. IS will estimate the effort required to fulfill the request, and the request will be reviewed and approved / denied at the next PRISM meeting (held three times a year in Spring, Summer, and Fall). Meeting dates and submission deadlines may be found at https://webapps.tosm.ttu.edu/Prism/CommitteeInfo.aspx. Additional information on PRISM may be found at http://www.texastech.edu/it/prism.aspx.
Reports and reporting on information in Texas Tech’s vast array of databases is handled by the Institutional Research and Information Management (IRIM) Department http://www.irs.ttu.edu/. IRIM provides web based access to hundreds of reports through their Tech Reports system http://www.irs.ttu.edu/TechReports/newindex.htm.
