President, TTUHSC at El Paso
The Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center at El Paso Inaugural President will be an experienced and successful leader with vision, a manager and a communicator who has distinguished record of executive leadership. Specifically, the President should possess the following skills and knowledge:
Required Qualifications
- A Medical Doctor degree and notable record in teaching, research and service sufficient to merit the rank of full professor;
- Distinguished academic and clinical career, with a national reputation as a leading scholar, a demonstrated commitment to research excellence, and competitive funded research success;
- Leadership and professional management of the research, educational, clinical, and administrative activities of a complex, comprehensive medical center and university;
- Experience necessary to engage key regional hospital partners to support the growth strategy of TTUHSC at El Paso;
- Provide strong leadership, encourage diversity and be a major advocate for students, faculty, staff, and patients;
- Experience in advancing a university health science center’s academic, research, and outreach mission
- Demonstrated experience as a successful fundraiser; a commitment to developing private resources to support the Center’s mission;
- Leadership abilities necessary to advance the Center’s strategic plan;
- Communication skills which will inspire confidence and trust and who has the ability to work across various publics including students, faculty, staff, community members business groups and state and federal government and
- Expertise to develop, assess and maintain academic programs that are responsive to the needs of the region.
Preferred Qualifications
- A distinguished record of executive leadership in a diverse and dynamic environment and an entrepreneurial experience in building strategic partnerships will also be considered;
- Insightful individual who can organize complex set of tasks through executive leadership and effective delegation;
- Strength in working across boundaries of the health professions disciplines to promote and advance education and interdisciplinary research;
- Ability to work collaboratively with a broad array of constituencies both internally and externally as well as engage with local, regional, state and national leaders and organizations;
- Persuasive advocate, spokesperson and communicator with leadership in academic and professional organizations at a national level;
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate verbally and in writing with multiple and diverse stakeholders;
- Broad range of experience in, and knowledge of, the academic health sciences, health professions, health care systems, and the healthcare marketplace; and
- Experience in building collaborations involving public and private sector organizations, systems of higher education, and leaders and organizations in the community, region and state.
