Ring Savings Program to Ease Financial Burden on Students
The Texas Tech Alumni Association is making it easier for Red Raiders to get their Official Texas Tech Class Ring. Now students can put a portion of their ring payment on their tuition statement, so that once they earn 75 hours and are eligible to purchase the ring, the financial burden is less.
Here’s how the Texas Tech University Class Ring Savings Program works. When a student enrolls in the program, their Texas Tech University “eRaider” student account will be charged a nonrefundable $50 fee per semester for the next six spring and fall semesters, enabling them to save $300 by the time they are eligible to reserve their Texas Tech ring. If they reach 75 hours in less than six semesters, they will be notified as soon as they become eligible.
Each Texas Tech University Class Ring symbolically captures the essence of Texas Tech with the prominent Double T displayed proudly, surrounded by the university’s full name and year of foundation. On one side of the ring are the Masked Rider and the Administration Building bell tower, with the bells that represent victory. On the opposite side is the university seal, which features the American Eagle, perched above a book, symbolizing church; a star, symbolizing the State of Texas; and a lamp, symbolizing knowledge. These elements are separated by a cross, which displays 10 cotton bolls, representing Lubbock and the surrounding nine cotton-producing counties.
Finally, the ring would not be complete without the inside inscription, “Strive for Honor.” This inscription is from “The Matador Song” and serves as a charge to every Texas Tech graduate to excel with integrity in all endeavors.
