The Information Systems department is responsible for the design, development, and maintenance of shared applications for Texas Tech. Texas Tech is comprised of three components: Texas Tech University System, Texas Tech University, and Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. Applications include those written in-house and vendor supplied, and are both mainframe and web based. The major systems include student, finance, human resources, payroll, and budget. Additional auxiliary systems include scholarship, Facilities Planning and Construction, departmental directory, electronic purchase order, and electronic personnel action forms. Because of the wide range of applications and platforms that we support, our 40+ programmers are very diverse with expertise in Oracle, DB2, SQLServer, Natural, COBOL, CICS, .NET, JAVA, and PHP. Our department is currently involved in a major project, ConnecTech, to move all applications from the mainframe to an Intel based server platform. ConnecTech will change the face of Information Technology at Texas Tech as no other project has in Tech's history. More information on ConnecTech can be found at: www.texastech.edu/connectech.
