Mickey L. Long
Mr. Mickey Long of Midland was appointed by Governor Rick Perry to the Board of Regents of the Texas Tech University System on February 6, 2009. He currently serves as the vice chairman of the Board, having been elected to that position on February 24, 2011. Mr. Long is also the chairman of the Regents' Rules Review Committee and the Board of Trustees of the Carr Scholarship Foundation. His term expires on January 31, 2015.
Mickey L. Long is president of Westex/WLP Well Service, L.P. in Midland. Mr. Long received his Bachelors of Science degree from Angelo State University in 1976.
He is a member of the Association of Energy Service Companies and the Texas Tech University Hall of Legacy. Before being named a member of the Texas Tech University System Board of Regents, Mickey was an active member of the Texas Tech University Foundation, Angelo State University Alumni Foundation, and the Red Raider Club National Board of Directors. Mickey is an active member of Grace Lutheran Church in Midland, Texas.
Mr. Long is married to Rhonda Renee Long, a 1976 graduate of the Angelo State University’s College of Education. They have two daughters: Amy (Texas Tech 1999) and son-in-law Brad King; and Andrea (Texas Tech 2003) and son-in-law Christopher Tirey. They have two granddaughters, Katherine Grace King and Caroline Grace Tirey.
