Daniel T. Serna

Mr. Daniel T. Serna of Arlington was appointed to the Board of Regents of the Texas Tech University System on March 21, 2005. Mr. Serna currently chairs the Audit Committee and serves on the Academic, Clinical and Student Affairs Committee. Mr. Serna also served on the Finance and Administration Committee. His term expires on January 31, 2011.

Mr. Serna is president and founder of Serna & Company, P.C., a full service public accounting firm. Mr. Serna earned a bachelor's degree in Accounting from Texas Tech University in 1979. He began his career with KPMG Peat Marwick in Dallas before establishing his CPA firm in 1987.

Mr. Serna is a Certified Public Accountant. In addition to Texas Tech, he is currently serving an appointment to the Tarrant County Hospital District Board as Vice-Chair. He has served previous appointments to the Texas Public Finance Authority, the 1995 White House Conference on Small Business, and the Arlington Ethics Commission. He was a member the Arlington City Council from 1993 to 1997.

Additionally, he has served on numerous boards throughout the Arlington and Fort Worth areas, including the Arlington Chamber of Commerce, Arlington Convention & Visitors Bureau, Arlington Sports Development Authority, Boys and Girls Clubs, Tarrant County Crime Commission, and the YMCA. Mr. Serna is a member of the American Institute of CPA's, Texas Society of CPA's, and the Fort Worth Chapter of the TSCPA's. Mr. Serna and his wife of 30 years, Susan, reside in Arlington, Texas.
