A Message from Chancellor Tedd L. Mitchell, M.D.

I wanted to share some great news with you about the Texas Tech University System.
 
The Texas Legislature has made a significant investment into our system that will support our institutions’ academic and research excellence, student success and campus construction projects that align with the missions of our universities.

This funding is the result of the hard work and efforts during the third special session by our local legislative delegation and our elected officials across the state, who are champions for higher education and health care. But it would not be possible without our faithful supporters like you, and I want to sincerely thank you for your generosity.
 
Your unwavering support allows our leadership to strategically prioritize the goals of our system and collaborate with lawmakers who work diligently to provide our state funding. In short, your loyal support builds the foundation of our collective success and achievements at the TTU System, and we are extremely grateful for you.
 
This latest round of funding, in addition to the support authorized during the regular session of the 87th Texas Legislature earlier this year, will be used to advance our universities. With it, we will support world-class research, innovation in health care and the development of workforce-ready graduates who serve our communities, this great state and beyond.

Specifically, the funding from the special session includes Capital Construction Assistance Projects funding (formerly known as tuition revenue bonds) for:

• Texas Tech University: $72 million
• TTU Center at Junction: $8 million
• Angelo State University: $36 million
• Midwestern State University: $44,922,833
• Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC): $59,897,111
• TTUHSC Midland Physician Assistant Program: $18,717,847
• Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso: $59,897,111

It is also important to note, in addition to the nearly $300 million received for Capital Construction Assistance Projects, the state prioritized support for student, academic and research excellence, regional universities and a Child Mental Health Care Consortium, all of which will positively impact universities throughout the system.
