Chancellor’s Council Distinguished Teaching and Research Awards recognize academic excellence across the TTU System. The honors are the most prestigious awards granted to faculty by the TTU System.

The awards are funded by gifts to the Chancellor’s Council, a giving society that supports the chancellor’s priorities across the TTU System. Since the honors were established in 2001, a total of 233 faculty have received awards totaling nearly $1.4 million.

“The generosity of our Chancellor’s Council donors provides us the opportunity to recognize and celebrate academic leaders and experts across the Texas Tech University System,” Mitchell said. “I am grateful for each of these dedicated supporters as they help us achieve our educational mission.”

Donors and supporters of the Chancellor’s Council, members of the TTU System Board of Regents and leadership from across the TTU System joined in the event to applaud the accomplished award recipients.

“These awards recognize the best of the best, and I’m extremely honored to recognize our world-class faculty across the Texas Tech University System,” Mitchell said. “Our award recipients have ascended to the top of their areas of study and are leading experts at providing students with an unrivaled educational experience. I congratulate each of our esteemed faculty receiving this year’s teaching and research awards.”

Recipients receive a $5,000 stipend and an engraved medallion.
