Chancellor, President to Announce Distinguished Faculty Award Winners
The Chancellor’s Council Distinguished Teaching and Research Awards are the most prestigious honors granted to faculty members throughout the Texas Tech University System.

WHAT: Announcement of the annual Chancellor’s Council Distinguished Teaching and Research Awards at Texas Tech University
WHEN: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday (Jan. 22)

EVENT: Texas Tech University System Chancellor Dr. Tedd L. Mitchell and Texas Tech President Lawrence Schovanec will present the annual Chancellor’s Council Distinguished Teaching and Research Awards to six faculty members at Texas Tech.
Distinguished Teaching Awards
- - J Chance Brooks, professor and associate chair, Department of Animal and Food Sciences, College of Agricultural Sciences & Natural Resources
- - Mitzi K. Lauderdale, associate academic dean and associate professor, Department of Personal Financial Planning, College of Human Sciences
- - Brie D. Sherwin, professor and adjunct professor, Public Health in Environmental Health Sciences, School of Law
- - Alan Shinn, professor, School of Music, J.T. & Margaret Talkington College of Visual & Performing Arts
Distinguished Research Awards
- - Andrew Littlefield, assistant professor, Department of Psychological Sciences, College of Arts & Sciences
- - Tracy Pearl, professor, School of Law
The Chancellor’s Council is a giving society that supports Chancellor Mitchell and his priorities of impacting student lives through scholarships, recognizing faculty achievement and encouraging excellence across the TTU System and its four component institutions – Texas Tech University, Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, Angelo State University and Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso.
The awards are made possible through philanthropic gifts to the Chancellor’s Council. Award recipients each receive a $5,000 stipend and an engraved medallion.
