A Message from Regent Mark Griffin

Dear Midwestern State University family,
I hope you all have had a great start to the new year and an enjoyable first couple of weeks with classes getting underway and students returning to campus for the spring semester.
Last fall, we began our nationwide search for the next President of Midwestern State University and have made significant progress thanks to the continued dedication of our 12-member search committee. We recently passed an important deadline in early January for applicants to receive full consideration, and I am delighted to report we received more than 60 applications for this leadership position. There was tremendous interest from visionary leaders across the country which has yielded a strong and diverse candidate pool. It is a testament to the quality, reputation and unique culture of MSU Texas that so many skilled individuals are interested in leading the university and its public liberal arts mission.
Earlier this week, our search committee met on-campus to begin the next part of this search process and our work together. We are carefully reviewing applications and will soon begin the interview process with initial candidates. I want to reassure you that the search committee is devoted to its charge of finding the best leader for MSU Texas and its future. Our goal is to complete interviews in a timely manner so the search committee can make a recommendation to the Chancellor and Board of Regents by early spring.
The MSU Texas family has a great deal to look forward to in 2022, as this year marks the university’s centennial celebration. I find it fitting that in the same year we honor the university’s 100-year legacy of excellence in higher education, we are seeking an accomplished leader for the commencement of this great institution’s next century. I look forward to celebrating our history and bright future ahead and will share more details as the search process continues.
