A Message from Regent Mark Griffin

Dear Midwestern State University family,
I hope this note finds you well and that you’re all enjoying the spring semester.
I write to you today to provide an update on our national search for the 12th President of Midwestern State University. During the last several months, our search committee sourced and screened more than 60 applications from distinguished leaders across the country, and we spent time last week interviewing several of them.
We believe our process has been thoughtful and our work has been thorough. Our goal―all along―has been to find someone who can expand the university’s horizons and also embrace its culture and traditions. I am grateful to the dedicated volunteers on this committee, who have given so much of their time to this process and who represent the very best of the MSU Texas and Texas Tech University System family.
After a number of successful interviews with highly qualified candidates, I am pleased to share that the search committee has reached a consensus and made its recommendations to the Chancellor.
Every candidate we interviewed spoke movingly about the success and excellence of MSU Texas, and I am grateful for the campus community’s support and assistance throughout the search process. That effort yielded a dynamic, diverse and strong candidate pool for this important position, and I am certain we will determine the right person for the university’s future.
Chancellor Tedd L. Mitchell, M.D., will now review the committee’s recommendations and conduct interviews soon. Official action, after consideration of a recommendation from the Chancellor, will be taken by the Board. This action will be followed by the announcement of a sole finalist for the new president of MSU Texas.
