TTU System Leadership Transition and Vision for the Future

Nov.19, 2025
Dear TTU System family,
Today, I begin my official duty as the Chancellor of the Texas Tech University System. It is an honor to join such a distinguished university system that stands at the forefront of education, research, and innovation in Texas and across the nation.
I am impressed by the professionalism, work ethic, and institutional knowledge within
the System offices. The excellence of this team is evident through the results of
the system. I look forward to building on your success as we continue to strengthen
and expand the reach of the TTU System.
Over the past several weeks, I’ve had the privilege of traveling to our institutions in Lubbock, Amarillo, Wichita Falls, El Paso, and San Angelo. At every stop, I’ve met faculty, staff, and students who embody what makes the TTU System so special — grit, purpose, and pride.
The strength of our system lies in this shared commitment, and together, we will continue
to lead with distinction in every field of study and service.
I am grateful for the trust of the Board of Regents and will work each day to execute our shared vision and goals for Texas’ best universities. My objective is clear: to lead the strongest university system in the state into a future that knows no limits.
I also want to thank Chancellor Tedd L. Mitchell, M.D., for his outstanding leadership and years of service to the system. His tenure saw historic growth, including record enrollment, the creation of the Texas University Fund, expansion of our Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, and the establishment of the School of Veterinary Medicine in Amarillo and the Woody L. Hunt School of Dental Medicine in El Paso. His leadership has positioned the system for an even greater future.
Chancellor Mitchell has made himself fully available to me and my team throughout
this transition, which has been invaluable.
While his time as chancellor is complete, I am grateful that he will continue to serve this community and share his experience in his emeritus role. The TTU System is stronger because of his continued presence and counsel.
As I begin this new role, my door will always be open. I can only be successful with
your trust and partnership. In the coming weeks and months, I will outline an agenda
that we will accomplish together — one that ensures the TTU System continues to excel
in education, innovation, and opportunity.
Thank you for the work you do each day to advance our shared mission. The future of our system has no limits — and together, we will make sure of it.
