Don Sinclair

Donald R. Sinclair was appointed to the Board of Regents for the Texas Tech University System on March 21, 2025, by Gov. Greg Abbott. He serves as vice chair of the Academic, Clinical & Student Affairs Committee and on the Regents’ Rules Committee. He is also chair of the Carr Foundation Board of Trustees committees. His term expires on Jan. 31, 2031.

Sinclair is a private investor who spent his professional career in the energy industry and currently serves on the board of directors of two energy companies. From 2009 to 2017, he served as president and chief executive officer of Western Gas Partners and was also senior vice president of Anadarko Petroleum Corporation. Sinclair has been associated with the energy industry for more than 40 years, focusing on marketing and trading and the midstream sector.

Sinclair is the former chairman of the Texas Tech Foundation, Inc. Board of Directors and the Rawls College Advisory Council for the Texas Tech University (TTU) Jerry S. Rawls College of Business (Rawls College). Sinclair is also a member of the Academy of Petroleum Engineers in the Bob L. Herd Department of Petroleum Engineering within the Edward E. Whitacre Jr. College of Engineering. He currently serves on the executive committee of the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center Board of Visitors as a vice chairman.

Sinclair is a distinguished alumnus of the Rawls College, where he earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in management in 1980. His wife, Susan, earned her bachelor’s degree in management from TTU in 1981.
