Dear Midwestern State University family,

I hope this note finds you and your families well.

Just weeks ago, we announced a presidential search committee to find the next president of Midwestern State University. Yesterday, we completed our first committee meeting on campus, and I wanted to update the campus community on our work and the path forward.

From the outset, the committee set an ambitious objective: To find the best leader possible for MSU Texas. The presidency of any university is a tremendous responsibility, but especially so for an institution of high achievement and one held in such high regard. With MSU Texas on the cusp of its centennial, its new leader must be someone who seeks to honor the history and heritage of the university while keeping an eye firmly focused on its future.

Thankfully, we have a committee equal to this search. Each committee member is recognized in their fields, and more importantly, they are devoted to MSU Texas and its future. They understand the traditions and excellence that make MSU Texas unique, and they themselves come from unique backgrounds, both professionally and in their connections to the university.

In addition to finding the ideal president for MSU Texas, we seek to make this a collaborative and communicative process. To that end, we’ll be hosting presidential search town halls on campus on Oct. 12-13 for our stakeholders to share their perspectives on what’s important in searching for the university’s 12th president. The town hall meetings will be held in the Clark Student Center Comanche Suites South and are open to faculty, staff, students, alumni and friends. Currently, the dates and times for these town halls are:

Tuesday, Oct. 12

Wednesday, Oct. 13

During these meetings, we will share an overview of this search and offer an opportunity for community members to give feedback and ask questions. We look forward to these events and to your input in this process.

We’re also preparing a presidential search website, serving as a portal of information for the campus community. In the meantime, the committee welcomes any comments or feedback to the presidential search email: ttus.msutexas.pressearch@ttu.edu.

This is an exciting moment for MSU Texas, and one we look forward to sharing with you in the weeks and months to come. Please feel free to reach out through email or in-person, and here’s wishing all of you the very best as the semester continues.

Sincerely,

Mark Griffin
Chairman, MSU Texas Presidential Search
Vice Chairman, Texas Tech University System Board of Regents
