Dear Midwestern State University family,

I hope this note finds you well and that you are enjoying your summer. I write today to officially welcome Stacia “Stacy” Haynie, Ph.D., as she is appointed as the 13th President of Midwestern State University.

Over the past month, President Haynie has had the chance to begin engaging with the campus community in preparation for this appointment. As she begins her duties as President, she will continue to meet with various groups and people, and I invite you to extend a warm welcome to her and her husband Scott as they return to the North Texas region, the MSU Texas campus and the Wichita Falls community.

I want to thank TTU System Regent Ginger Kerrick Davis, who led the MSU Texas Presidential Search Committee; Regents Shelley Sweatt and Pat Gordon, for their service on the committee; and each of the individuals who were a part of the committee. Their tireless work identified the ideal candidate for the university, and one who has a tremendous history of leadership excellence in higher education.

President Haynie’s passion for educating students, including the past 33 years at Louisiana State University, and advocacy for all members of a campus community ensures she will guide MSU Texas into an even brighter future. She cares deeply about the university, of which she is an alumna, and the Wichita Falls community, and I look forward to her innovative ideas that will surely inspire growth and foster a vibrant academic environment at MSU Texas for years to come.

I also want to thank Keith Lamb, Ph.D., for his leadership as interim president and his continued dedication to the university and its constituents. Dr. Lamb will return to his role as vice president for enrollment management and student affairs and chief strategy officer and will work closely with President Haynie to ensure a smooth leadership transition prior to her first day on Aug. 1.

Please join me in welcoming one of our own home and in extending our best wishes for her leadership of MSU Texas.

Warmest regards,

Tedd L. Mitchell, M.D.
