Letter from Texas Tech University System Chancellor Tedd L. Mitchell, M.D.:

Dear TTU System family,
I write today to announce the appointment of Jason R. Weber, Ed.D., as the next vice chancellor for Leader & Culture Development at the Texas Tech University System. He will begin in his new role on July 1.
Jason currently serves as the associate vice chancellor of Leader & Culture Development. He is an exemplary leader with decades of experience in higher education, public service, and training and developing people. Since June 2021, he has been an integral part of the System Administration, actively engaging with our presidents and leadership teams to operationalize values-based cultures; expanding programming to develop leaders among our students, staff and faculty; and helping develop effective leaders and teams across the entire TTU System.
Before his time at the System Administration, Jason served as associate vice president for People & Values at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, where he led the team responsible for integrating values throughout the university and creating development programs for faculty, staff and administrators. Prior to that, he served as the enterprise training and development director at the State of Wisconsin Department of Administration, where he led a team of training and instructional design professionals catering to 21 state agencies that included 40,000 employees.
Jason earned a doctorate in leadership from Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota and a master’s degree in criminal justice leadership from Concordia University – Saint Paul. He holds bachelor’s degrees in criminal justice and psychology from Evangel University. We know he will continue to be an excellent leader, and we welcome him to our executive leadership team.

I also want to take a moment to recognize Steve Sosland, who did a tremendous job as our inaugural vice chancellor for Leader & Culture Development. Steve joined the System Administration in 2018 and was responsible for establishing values-based cultures across the TTU System and the communities we serve. We will miss him, but we wish him well as he begins his retirement.
Please join me in thanking Steve for his service and congratulating Jason on his new role.
Warmest Regards,
Chancellor, Texas Tech University System
