Brontë C. Staugaard
Assistant General Counsel
Brontë C. Staugaard joined the Office of General Counsel at the Texas Tech University System in 2025. Staugaard supports the legal needs of the TTU System’s component institutions (Texas Tech University, Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, Angelo State University, Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso and Midwestern State University). While his practice is primarily focused on open records, he also assists with a broad array of legal issues, including litigation, contracts and athletics.
Staugaard arrived at the TTU System following a two-and-a-half-year career in private practice at the Lubbock firm of Bigbee & Curtis, where his practice focused on civil litigation. Staugaard is licensed in both Texas and New Mexico.
Staugaard received his Juris Doctor from Appalachian School of Law in 2022 and his bachelor's degree from Liberty University. Staugaard is a former college track student-athlete who was on a track scholarship at Oklahoma Christian University.
He and his wife, Savannah, a Texas Tech alumna and employee, have one daughter, Rosèleen.
